Women In The Outdoors  
 

Attention: The Women In the Outdoors program at GCF&G that was to be held on Aug.23rd has been canceled due to scheduling issues.

Your paid registration fee of $45.00 entitles you to:

Your choice of (4) four Women in the Outdoors courses, use of all necessary equipment, program materials, instruction, lunch, a one year subscription to the Women in the Outdoors magazine, and a (1) year membership in the N.W.T.F, (or extension of your current annual membership).

Course Options Include (*Courses subject to change):

Archery
You will learn how to shoot compound and / or traditional bows at targets ranging from 10-15 yards away. You will be able to select archery and fitting equipment that meets your needs.

Canoeing
After you learn about the different types and styles of canoes and equipment used, you will enjoy practicing paddle stroke techniques and the implementation of safety procedures while on the water.

Dream Catchers
Design your very own personalized dream catcher from items you gather from the forest along with basic materials that will be supplied. The only limit is your imagination.

Dutch Oven Cooking
There's nothing quite like a cozy campfire and the aroma of good food bubbling in a pot! Hel prepare recipes as you learn the art of Dutch Oven cooking - come hungry!

Fishing
After a short session on equipment, find out why fishing is America's favorite pasttime. Learn the basics so that you can participate n this enjoyable sport. Tackle, bai and a pond full of hungry fish provided!

Gun Cleaning & Maintenance
You enjoy shooting and hunting - now, learn how to properly clean and maintain your firearms. Protect your financial investment in your fine firearms and by properly maintaining them. Learn how in this handson session.

Handgun
At the end of this class, you will be able to safely shoot a variety of handguns. The instructor will provide a broad spectrum of information regarding the fundamentals of shooting handguns.

Outdoor Photography
Learn the basics of photography including amera functions, film choice, proper exposure and light composition. Try your new skills during an outdoor expedition. You will need to bring your own camera and film.

Self Defense
Now that you've learned about all of these really great outdoor activities, are you a little apprehensive about going out in the woods by yourself? Learn methods of personal protection to handle any situation in which you might feel uncomfortable whether you're in the woods or on a city street.

Shotgun
Learn to shoot a shotgun! You will be introduced to the basics of shot gunning which will include learning the types and gauges, ammunition, chokes, and loads used. Learn how to identify the parts of a shotgun, as well as safe handling methods and the proper operation of all related safety equipment.

Tomahawk Throwing
The early frontiersman possessed many skills enabling their survival. In this class, you will try your hand at the 'hawk and knife' block and learn the proper throwing techniques for this very old contest of skill!

Turkey Hunting and Calling
After you take this course, when you hear the call of a wild turkey, you'll be able to meet the challenge. Learn more about hunting techniques, calling methods, how to scout and roost a bird and much more.

Women in the Outdoors
Is dedicated to providing interactive educational outdoor opportunities for women ages 14 and older. Outdoor learning events featuring hands-on activities are conducted by local chapters throughout the nation.

The goal of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is to teach the importance of responsible wildlife management, increase participation in outdoor related opportunities and to preserve the hunting tradition.

The Women in the Outdoors program will meet its goal by introducing more women to outdoor activities, training women as outdoor educators and providing a network for men and women with similar outdoor interests.
